I have two apparantly female rats but one keeps trying to ';hump'; the other is this justa territory thing?

one of your females is trying to express that she is the alpha female and that she rules the roost. that's all.I have two apparantly female rats but one keeps trying to ';hump'; the other is this justa territory thing?
i can麓t tell u anything but first to b sure they麓re both females if one is male b prepaired to have many baby ratsI have two apparantly female rats but one keeps trying to ';hump'; the other is this justa territory thing?
nope, lesbian rat
Rats of the same sex mount each other for dominance. If one of them is doing it more than the other, chances are the mounting one is trying to assert its dominance over the other. Unless they are hurting each other, just leave them alone, and they will most likely stop eventually.

Another reason females do this is when they are in heat, basically they want to mate but there are no males around so they take their sexual frustration out on their female cagemate. Again, unless they are hurting each other, just let them do it, it is normal behaviour.
I don't think it's a territorial thing. I used to have eight rats- one mom, the rest were her female babies. They all used to hump each other, for no apparent reason. I think they were bored and needed something to do. Or maybe they thought that since there were no males around, they could impregnate each other. Unless they're fighting and hurting each other, I wouldn't worry.
If they are both female, yes this is a way of showing dominance.

How to tell what sex your rat is: http://www.altpet.net/rodents/rats/rf02.鈥?/a>
Hamsters do the same thing. The domanant one will 'hump' the other to show they are the leader. Wierd I know. lol
dominance
It's a dominance thing... if they really are both girls.
