Can rats eat lettuce leaves?

i looked up inforation on the internet about what i can and cannot feed my rat. i think i came across that they cant have lettuce leaves but im not sure and cant remember what website it was. can you help me?Can rats eat lettuce leaves?
I found this online:

The most common thing to add to your rat's diet are fresh vegetables and fruits. Broccoli, peas, green beans, carrots, tomatoes, bananas, cherries, whatever. I can't think of any vegetable I've offered them that they didn't like, although there are some (like asparagus) that they will only eat for about a day.

Rats love lettuce, but it doesn't offer them all that much in any sort of real food value. I occasionally give them just a little with their other food, but generally you'd be better off giving them spinach or some other vegetable.

Broccoli is great, and some studies claim to show it can reduce the rate of tumors in rats.

Be warned it can make your rat's cage kind of stinky if you feed them a lot for several days in a row. But if you can stand it (sure you can!) the rats love it, and it's good for them. Mine get some nearly every day.Can rats eat lettuce leaves?
The problem with lettuce is that it has almost no nutrients (at least iceberg... Romaine is better). So eating it will fill them up without giving them the nutrition they need.

That said, rats eat anything and are pretty tolerant of almost all human food, so the lettuce won't actually hurt the rat as long as you only give him a tiny bit. The problem is more about feeding the rat too much lettuce and not enough real food. But, unless the only thing you have is lettuce, you might as well feed him something that's actually good for him!
Certainly not iceberg lettuce. It's mostly water and would give them diarrhea.
