How do i tell my landlord i have rats?

the contract says no pets in the house but rats do not stink they are good pets and i love them please no silly answers 10 points to best answer ore the answer that worksHow do i tell my landlord i have rats?
Nobody puts the jurisdiction they in on these questions. The laws in each province and state vary.

For example in Ontario Canada, it doesn't matter what the lease says, the statute governing tenancies (The Residential Tenancies Act) applies despite any agreement to the contrary.

Pets are permitted in Ontario. A Landlord can however bring an application the Landlord and Tenant Board if the pet is disturbing the landlord or other tenants (eg: a constant barking dog). How do i tell my landlord i have rats?
Are you already living there, or are you considering moving there?

If you are considering moving there, I would ask the landlord ';What are your rules on small pets that are always caged?'; So many people have a negative view on rats, I wouldn't even mention the species unless specifically asked.

If you already live there, you've made it this far, why ask now? They're not causing damage.
I would ask him if you could keep some rats in your apartment, but not actually mention that you have them. That or you could just not say anything about them at all. If the landlord comes to do a check in you apartment because he's suspicious, hide them at a family or friends house. Hope this helps any at all or at least gives you some ideas. Good luck and hope if he finds out you don't have to get rid of you precious rats!
I used to own rats and you are right they are great pets! Unfortunately a contract is a contract and if you tell your landlord you have rats he has the right to make you get rid of them or move out. I do not envy your situation cause either you have to chose to be dishonest and keep the rats a secrete or risk turning your life around. Maybe you can ask your landlord if small animals in aquariums are ok just to see where his or her head is at, I have experienced that they are not as apposed to these types of animals. Just don't tell them you have rats cause most people just classify all small rodents as rats anyway, cause they don't know any better. If they ok the small animal idea then you can live guilt free and safe from loosing your babies.
Call him up and explain how small they are, how they don't make noise, and I'd refrain from calling them rats. Call them rodents and promise not to take them out of their cage, or whatever you keep your rats in.
you make it sound like you have unwanted filthy rats. dont tell him in the words you asked this question..lol

';landlord... i have rats!!'; :))
well sorry but if the contract says no pets then u cannot have a pet.... And he has it down in writing because u most likely had to sign the contract
