Rats certainly don't eat as much when the weather is warm. They don't use so much energy keeping warm so don't need it. But that shouldn't mean he would be losing weight.

Is it possible he's the submissive one in the cage ? If so, it may be a case that the other two are not letting him have so much time at the foodbowl. If this is the case try putting two (or more) bowls of food in your cage, preferably one at the top and one at the bottom, so that Frankie has more of a chance to get his fair share.

You could try taking Frankie out of the cage and giving him some extras to try and put a little weight back on him. Foods such as advocado flesh (NOT the skin or stone), porridge made with soy milk, boiled or scrambled eggs, sardines are all good for fattening up rats.

If Frankie continues to lose weight I would recommend a visit to a qualified rat experienced vet to rule out any medical conditions which may be affecting him.

Hope this helped, and hope lil Frankie goes back to being a chunky squishey lil boy again xxx :-DI have 3 male rats and one of them frankie is really starting to get thin can u tell whats wrong please?
